The Full Truth about E-Cigarettes
24 Mar. 2016

smoking e_cigaretteE-cigarettes were developed in China and came to the US market in 2007. They are battery-operated devices that serve to deliver nicotine to their users. They are vaporizers in fact, which contain no tobacco. Instead of burning tobacco, e-cigarettes heat up a liquid that turns into vapor, which is then inhaled.

There are lots of speculations about e-cigarettes just as there are myths about smoking cessation treatments or about everything out there. The only way to dispel them is to learn the truth.

Since e-cigarettes deliver nicotine without burning tobacco, they appear to be less toxic and safer alternative to conventional tobacco products. However health experts and regulatory agencies argue over those matters. Because e-cigarettes don’t burn tobacco and there is no smoke, no odor and no carbon monoxide, doesn’t mean that they are safe. They still contain nicotine and other potentially dangerous chemicals, including flavorings, propylene glycol and other additives.

The vapor in e-cigarettes has been found to contain toxins and carcinogens, such as acetaldehyde and formaldehyde, and potentially toxic metal nanoparticles from the vaporizing mechanism. The health consequences associated with repeated exposure to those chemicals haven’t been studied yet.

Nicotine is highly addictive and since e-cigarettes were developed for recreational purposes having a wide array of flavorings they may serve as an introductory product for those who then go on using other tobacco products. They are a kind of gateway drugs leading teens and non-smoking adults to use tobacco.

When you stop using them you can have withdrawal symptoms, including feeling anxious, irritable, restless and depressed, which can be dangerous for heart and arteries health.

smoking cessation tabletsSome smokers believe that e-cigarettes will help them lower nicotine cravings during their attempts to give up smoking. However, it is not clear so far whether e-cigarettes are effective as smoking cessation aid. It is quite possible that they can perpetuate nicotine dependence and thus interfere with quitting.

It is evident that it would be best for smokers to quit completely. If that is problematic and seems not possible, try the time-proven stop-smoking Champix tablets, which can double or sometimes even triple chances of quitting successfully.
