Diovan comes in scored tablets (can be split in half) of 40 mg, 80 mg, 160 mg, and 320 mg. The usual dose for adults who suffer from hypertension is 80-160 mg/day with the maximum dose being 320 mg. It takes up to 4 weeks for your blood pressure to stabilize. For congestive heart failure treatment, the typical dose is 40 mg that should be taken two times per day. The starting dose after a recent heart attack is 20 mg, which should be taken in the morning and evening. The doses may be upped to 160 mg twice a day if there are no side effects.
What are the contraindications for using Diovan?
Diovan is contraindicated during pregnancy as it may cause serious harm or death to an unborn baby. Should you discover that you got pregnant while using Diovan, inform your doctor immediately. People with anuria (low or no urine output) or who are allergic to certain kinds of sulfa drugs (sulfonamides) should not take Diovan.
What are the adverse effects of Diovan?
