What is Fempro?
Fempro is mainly used for treating breast cancer in post-menopausal women. These women have their periods stopped maybe because of natural reasons or after chemotherapy or after undergoing a surgery. Fempro is one of the aromatase inhibitors or antioestrogens as it reduces oestrogen production in human body. Incidentally, growth of a few types of breast cancers are stimulated by oestrogen and these are known as oestrogen dependent cancer forms. The active ingredient of Fempro is Letrozole.
What are the Indications for using Fempro?
If you are seeing symptoms in yourself of having breast cancer after your periods have stopped, you should consult your doctor and if he prescribes, you can start using Fempro.
What is the Recommended Dosage of Fempro?
Fempro is available in tablet format and doctors generally suggest to take one tablet on every day with a glass of water or any other form of liquid such as fruit juice. You should have the tablet after having a meal in normal cases, unless otherwise specified by the doctors. The dosages should not be missed and even if you do, the tablet should be taken as soon as you remember about the same. However, it is important not to double dose just for making up for a missed dosage.
After continued usage of a month or two, it is important to consult the doctor and verify whether any further usage of Fempro is required or not.
What are the Contraindications for using Fempro?
- If you are allergic to Letrozole, make sure not to take Fempro.
- If you are having periods, don’t have Fempro. The same goes if you are pregnant or are still into breast feeding.
- Don’t use Fempro if you are suffering from liver or kidney disease of have a history of similar disease.
It is important to share the list of other medicines that you are taking before using Fempro as the same may interact with some of those and cause fatal results in your body.
What are the Side Effects of using Fempro?
Some of the minor side effects are: appetite, hair thinning, blurred vision, rapid urination, stomach upset, abnormal liver functioning, numbness, diarrhea, increased thirst, breast pain, hot flushes, mood changes, constipation, insomnia etc.
Apart from the aforementioned ones, you may experience certain severe side effects such as: blood clot formation, constant flu like symptoms, feeling heaviness in the breast, loss of coordination vision changes, difficulty in speaking too.
