What is Fertomid?
Fertomid is an oral fertility aid that is primarily used by women who are having trouble producing ova (female egg cells) needed to become pregnant. It acts by stimulating certain hormones needed for ovulation to occur. Because Fertomid is relatively inexpensive and easy to use, it is generally the first on the list of medicines used in fertility treatment.

What are the indications for using Fertomid?
Fertomid can be beneficial for those trying to get pregnant but due to certain conditions unable to do so. It can be used to treat irregular ovulation. This condition makes it difficult for a woman to conceive since she can’t pinpoint the day of ovulation. Fertomid has also proved to be effective in treating of unexpected infertility. Young, healthy couples that had no problems with fertility evaluation but were still having difficulty getting pregnant were able to conceive with the help of Fertomid.

What is the dosage of Fertomid?
The proper dosage of Fertomid will depend on your condition/circumstances.  There are many factors that can affect the dose of Fertomid, such as the body weight, health condition, and other medications. The recommended dosage for infertile women is 50-100 mg daily for the first 5 days of menstrual cycle. The starting dose is 50 mg but it may be increased to 100 mg if there’s no effective response. It is not recommended to use Fertomid for more than 3 cycles of treatment.

What are the contraindications for using Fertomid?
If you are allergic to clomiphene (main acting ingredient) or any other components of this medication, you should not take Fertomid. You should also not take Fertomid if you have the following conditions: depression, abnormal vaginal bleeding, hormone-dependent tumor, ovarian cysts, thrombophlebitis, and if you are pregnant.

What are the adverse effects of Fertomid?

Using Fertomid may result in a number of unwanted side effects; however, in most cases they are extremely rare. The most common side effects are breast discomfort, heavy menstrual periods, nausea, vomiting, depression, nervousness, tiredness, insomnia, and dizziness. More side effects may occur.
